Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Don Wilder ("I," "me," or "the operator") collects, uses, stores, and protects information in connection with the website at donwilder.com and the personal applications and tools operated under it (collectively, the "Service"), including any application that connects to the Oura Ring API to help you track your own sleep and health data.
By using the Service or authorizing it to access data on your behalf, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Who this policy covers
The Service is a small, independently operated personal project. It is not a large commercial platform. Where this policy refers to "you," it means any individual who visits the Service or who connects a third-party account (such as an Oura account) to it.
2. Information collected
Health and wellness data from Oura
If you connect your Oura account, you authorize the Service — through Oura's official OAuth authorization flow — to access data from your Oura account. Depending on the scopes you approve, this may include:
- Sleep data (sleep stages, duration, timing, and sleep scores)
- Readiness and recovery metrics
- Activity data (steps, calories, activity levels)
- Physiological metrics such as heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, and body temperature trends
- Basic account and personal information exposed by the Oura API (such as user identifier, age, biological sex, height, and weight, where provided)
Access is granted only after you explicitly authorize it through Oura, and only for the scopes you approve. You are never asked to share your Oura password with the Service.
Information you provide directly
If you contact the operator (for example, by email), the Service will receive the information you choose to include, such as your name and email address.
Technical information
Like most websites, the Service and its hosting provider may automatically log limited technical information such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, for security, reliability, and basic diagnostics.
3. How information is used
Information is used solely to operate the Service and to provide its intended function to you. Specifically:
- To retrieve, display, analyze, and help you track your own Oura sleep and health data
- To authenticate your connection and keep it working
- To maintain the security, integrity, and reliability of the Service
- To respond to you if you get in touch
The Service does not sell your data, does not use it for advertising, and does not use it to build profiles for any third party.
4. How information is shared
Your personal and health data is not sold, rented, or traded. It may be shared only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers: infrastructure providers that host and operate the Service (for example, the website host) may process data strictly to provide those services.
- Legal requirements: where disclosure is required by applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request.
- With your direction: where you explicitly ask for information to be shared or exported.
5. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties whose own privacy terms apply to the data they handle:
- Ōura — the source of the health data you authorize. See the Oura Privacy Policy.
- Hosting — the Service is hosted on Vercel, which processes requests to deliver the site.
6. Data storage and security
Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and restricting access to authorization tokens. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
7. Data retention
Information is kept only for as long as needed to provide the Service to you, or as required by law. When you revoke access or request deletion, associated data and stored authorization tokens are deleted within a reasonable period, except where retention is legally required.
8. Your choices and rights
You remain in control of your data at all times. You may:
- Revoke access to your Oura data at any time from your Oura account settings (Account → Data & Privacy → connected applications), which immediately stops further access.
- Request access, correction, or deletion of data held by the Service by contacting the operator at the address below.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to object to or restrict certain processing.
9. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 16 and does not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided data, please contact the operator so it can be removed.
10. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
